What is a bridge?

A dental bridge is a restoration used to replace missing teeth. In most cases, this kind of restoration is used to replace either a single missing tooth or a couple of missing teeth in a row (usually a maximum of three missing teeth). There are several kinds of bridges available based on your specific dental needs. The most common type of dental bridge in Spring, Texas, the traditional bridge, is comprised of two dental crowns and an artificial tooth called a pontic. The crowns are placed on the dental implants or remaining natural teeth, known as abutment teeth, in order to anchor the pontic in place.

Do I need a bridge for my smile?

If you have lost one or more teeth, be sure to discuss all of your options for tooth replacement with our friendly dentist, Dr. Calder. We may suggest a dental bridge in order to:

  • Prevent the remaining teeth from moving into the space left by the missing teeth
  • Restore your ability to speak, chew, and eat as normal
  • Enhance the beauty of your smile and fill in the gaps left by the missing teeth
  • Alleviate uneven stress on the bite
